Babet Wentink several examples of Babet's work

inspiration

Most of my paintings have monumental dimensions. An individual painting is often part of a series. I want my work to have a sense of physical presence, but to also be accessible, expressing feelings that are universally understood. I try to employ a certain simplicity in the work, to capture human emotions in a single line or stain.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.
Albert Einstein

'I wish my life was like an abundant river, joyfully flowing across the earth.'
From Amedeo Modigliani's correspondence

'Woord en beeld zijn ten opzichte van elkaar onherleidbaar: hoezeer men ook onder woorden brengt wat men ziet - wat men ziet huist nooit in wat men zegt.'
Michel Foucault

'De zin van mijn leven
is de zin die ik eraan wil geven.
Toen ik dat ontdekte,
kreeg ik opnieuw een immense lust om te leven.'

Paulo Coelho
